“The New MMDA Complex as a Microcosm of Metro Manila”
The design approach to the MMDA complex was brought upon by understanding the role the MMDA plays in keeping our cities livable and efficient and how the MMDA is representative of the 17 LGU’s that make Metro Manila a Megalopolis. The first approach was to ask ourselves what kind of Metro Manila do we dream of and what the New MMDA can come to represent how we see our cities. We wish our cities to be livable, resilient, human – centered, dynamic and sustainable, much like what the MMDA envisions it to be. This is seen in the planning of the Site, positioning of the buildings and massing as well as the creation of community spaces.
The Second approach was to create an architectural visual language that represented the Identity of the MMDA as well as its goals and values that is easily identifiable, readily seen and memorable. The design approach to this was to create a façade that is unique and responsive to the mission and vision of the MMDA.
