Royce Hotel & Casino

Royce Hotel (formerly Oxford Hotel) asked us to redesign the façade of the existing hotel building. The current facade came about from a common but serious problem. The previous building had an inside gutter behind the roof parapet that leaked whenever it rained. The whole roof system including the gutter was replaced. With the leak problem solved, the exterior was left with exposed downspouts and gutters, which had to be concealed using a construction methodology that was within the constraints of budget, schedule and structural limitations of the building. We went with lightweight cladding that would give the long frontage rhythm and character as well as conceal unsightly but necessary elements of the building.
